Galop is run by a Management Committee who meet approximately every six weeks. The Committee is the decision-making body responsible for strategic planning, and for formulating the policies, goals and direction of Galop.
Dorothea Gartland (Chair)
Is a barrister at law and is instructed to appear at all levels of Court. Dorothea has recently been appointed as a Deputy District Judge on the South Eastern Circuit. Dorothea specialises in the law relating to children.
In private law work Dorothea is regularly instructed in cases with an international dimension where parents are seeking to relocate to another jurisdiction or opposing an application to permanently remove a child from this jurisdiction. In public law work Dorothea is regularly instructed on behalf of Local Authorities, parents and the children’s representatives in the most serious types of care proceedings involving findings of child sexual exploitation, serious injury and sexual abuse. Dorothea’s practice also involves child abduction and she has been involved in decisions which have clarified the law in this area.
Keith Anderson (Trustee)
Keith Anderson is currently Grants Manager at Mind, where he holds joint responsibility for the Time to Change programme which funds innovative community projects. He overseas around 40 projects to bring people with and without mental health problems from within their communities together to talk about, and change attitudes towards mental health. He joined Mind from London Councils where he was Grants Manager with responsibility for
the violence against women and girls portfolio of work
David Sampson (Trustee)
David joined the Baring Foundation as Deputy Director in 2014. He began his career as a lawyer in private practice, training and working at the international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. Since then, he has worked on public interest litigation and human rights at the National Center for Lesbian Rights in San Francisco and as Global Pro Bono Advisor at the law firm Linklaters LLP. David is a trustee of GALOP, London’s LGBT anti-violence & abuse charity, and the Kaleidoscope Trust, which works to uphold the rights of LGBT people internationally.
Dr Lisa Doyle (Trustee)
Lisa Doyle is the Head of Advocacy at the Refugee Council, where she is a member of the Senior Management Team responsible for the day-to-day of the organisation. She leads the charity’s campaigning, media, parliamentary, policy and research work. Lisa previously held positions at the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA), where she conducted research concerning widening participation and she was a lecturer in Human Geography at University of Sussex.
Michael Nastari (Trustee)
Michael Nastari is a registered social worker with 10 years experience of working in the LGBT charity sector. They bring a strong operational understanding to the board as well as knowledge of local and national LGBT services. They are currently particularly active in trying to improving the experience for trans and non-binary people.
