Galop is run by a Management Committee who meet approximately every six weeks. The Committee is the decision-making body responsible for strategic planning, and for formulating the policies, goals and direction of Galop.

Chair : Nic Taylor

Nic’s current role in Galop involves chairing the Operational Sub Group and acting as line manager to the Chief Executive. He has worked with the voluntary sector and local government and currently works in children and young people’s services, on a range of education related projects. He is also undertaking an MSc in Public Policy & Management. Joined 2001


Vice Chair : Bob Green

Bob Green has worked in the voluntary sector in the field of social housing for 17 years and for the past 2 years he has been the Housing Manager and now Director for Stonewall Housing, which provides housing advice, advocacy and support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities. Conor Coughlan is the former Chair of the gay peer action charity JOHNNY (1999-2006), author of LGBT hate crime report ( Ireland) 2006. He is a marketing, projects and public relations professional with over twelve years experience in working with public, private, NGO and voluntary sectors. He brings expertise in LGBT communications, charity management and funding to this role. Joined 2007


Peter Dunn works as Head of Research and Development for Victim Support. His background is in probation and policy advice and he also acts as Adviser to the Committee of Support After Murder and Manslaughter (SAMM). He has a strong interest in the impact of hate crime on victims, often speaking at conferences on hate crime. He is also currently a PhD research student at the London School of Economics. Dorothea Gartland Joined 2007


Susan Paterson works as a Senior Criminologist for the Metropolitan Police Service. She has over 10 years experience of research in both public and commercial sectors and has written and published work on Homophobia and Hate Crime. She is also attached to Birkbeck School of Law, writing a thesis on issues related to violence motivated by homophobia, discrimination and bigotry. Susan also has voluntary links with lesbian and gay organisations London Switchboard and the Pink Singers. Joined 2002

Chief Executive : Deborah Gold

Deborah leads Galop and is responsible for maintaining the strategic direction of the organisation, as well as managing all its operational and fundraising functions. Deborah is also responsible for publicly representing Galop, and leads on developments in policy, campaigning, partnership working, training and consultation.


Office Manager : Michael Dresser

Michael maintains and develops Galop’s systems, including its online presence. He ensures the office runs smoothly and manages various communications projects, including developing Galop’s current visual identity through design and publicity. His background is in office administration, web and graphic design. (This post is part time).


Greenwich & Bexley Caseworker : Jackie Foley

Working in partnership with the Metro Centre, Jackie encourages the reporting of hate crime, works with Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, advocates for LGBT victims of hate crime and promotes the findings of Galop’s research in the boroughs. (This post is part time).


Community Information Research Project Co-ordinator : Peter Kelley

The aim of the ‘Filling In The Blanks’ project is to examine the reasons for [under]reporting of homophobic and transphobic hate crime in London and to find out where such incidents are being reported.  The project includes a survey of LGBT organizations and groups where details of incidents may have been collected, but may not have been recorded by the police.  The second aim of the project is to find a more systematic way of recording data on hate crime incidents so that information can be shared across various organizations working with the LGBT community and give a picture of the scale and nature of homophobic/transphobic hate crimes.


Sexual Abuse Caseworker : Jamey Fisher

Jamey's role is to provide advice and advocacy to LGBT people who have experienced sexual abuse/assault in the Greater London area. She is able to help report incidents to the police whether people have suffered recently or at some point in their past, people can remain anonymous. She advises victims about steps they can take to safeguard their health after an attack, works closely with the Havens and makes appropriate referrals.
