Training and Consultancy

Thanks to a number of recent changes in legislation agencies and companies are increasingly recognising their obligations to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities. Many have sought clarification of the laws relating to LGBT people while others want awareness training for their staff.

Galop has created and facilitated many training and awareness sessions for both public and private organisations. In 2003 and 2004 Galop was chosen by the Department of Trade and Industry to create and deliver national training courses on the new laws governing sexual orientation discrimination in the workplace.

If you need to educate your staff or train them on general LGBT awareness, more specific issues around discrimination, hate crime, or the law, Galop is your ideal partner. In consultation with you we will devise a programme which encompasses the individual requirements of your organisation or staff and deliver easy-to-understand training informed directly by the needs of LGBT communities.

To discuss how Galop can help your organisation fulfil its legal anti-discrimination obligations, please email us with an outline of your requirements or call us on 020 7704 6767 for an informal chat.

Research and Needs Assessment

Galop has a long history of providing ground-breaking research and surveys which have substantially increased the understanding of the impact of homophobia, transphobia and hate crime on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.

Most recently we were commissioned by the London boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley to deliver an assessment of LGBT experiences of hate crime in those boroughs which has led directly to increased service provision there.

Galop has also contributed to studies carried out by commercial companies and continues to work with the Metropolitan police to monitor the data received on homophobic and transphobic hate crime.

If you would like to commission Galop to carry out research on LGBT issues for your organisation please email us or call 020 7704 6767 to discuss your needs further.

Development of Public Policy

Galop actively contributes to a number of London-wide forums and committees, both LGBT and non-LGBT, helping to inform policy and decision making about responses to hate crime and the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

Galop works towards ensuring that LGBT safety issues remain a priority for major policy-making and lobbies individuals at all levels from borough councils to the Metropolitan police force. We regularly provide advice to organisations who are formulating their new planning and policy documents to ensure that the needs of LGBT people are appropriately represented.

If you would like Galop to contribute towards policy making and decisions within your organisation we would be happy to assess your requirements. Please please email us or call 020 7704 6767.
