Thanks to funding from the Welsh Government, we’re launching two online spaces for LGBT+ people in Wales, aged 18+, who are looking for support with recovery and moving forward after experiencing abuse or violence.

These new recovery groups will be a 12-week structured programme delivered online by trained LGBT+ facilitators. Group sessions will be a balance of guided learning, reflection and peer support in a safe and confidential space.

Who are the groups for?

The groups are for LGBT+ adults (aged 18+) living in Wales who have experienced abuse and are looking for support moving forward. You should feel comfortable engaging in a structured group setting, including reflecting, listening to others, and participating in group discussions at your own pace.

We have two groups available for LGBT+ people in Wales to join:

Domestic Abuse Recovery Group

This group offers a safe, confidential, and affirming space for LGBT+ people who have experienced domestic abuse within intimate or family relationships.

Starting in July 2026.

Repairing the Rainbow Group

This group offers a safe and inclusive space for LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse in non-domestic contexts, including incidents such as hate crime or sexual violence.

What to expect from our groups

Together, we’ll explore the impact of abuse on mental health and wellbeing and develop tools for emotional regulation, coping, and recovery in a supportive and affirming environment. Over the 12 weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Understand trauma and its impact

• Learn grounding and emotional regulation skills

• Improve mental health, wellbeing, and sleep

• Process difficult emotions like guilt, shame, anger, and grief

• Rebuild identity, confidence, and self-worth

• Challenge negative thoughts and self-criticism

• Set healthy boundaries and communicate assertively

• Feel more confident moving forward in recovery

Is this the right time for you?

This group is designed for people who feel ready to begin focusing on recovery. This might mean:

• You have some stability in your day-to-day life

• You feel able to manage difficult emotions with support, even if things still feel challenging

• You are not currently in need of urgent or crisis support
