Trans, non-binary and intersex victims and survivors of abuse and violence deserve safety, dignity, and access to the support they need.

This updated draft Code of Practice, alongside last year’s Supreme Court ruling, will continue to make life more difficult for many trans+ people, especially those fleeing abuse with nowhere safe to go. We regularly support trans+ women fleeing domestic abuse who are refused safe accommodation and hear from trans+ victims and survivors who are turned away from essential services.

We understand many organisations are seeking clarity, but blanket exclusion is not required - and it is causing harm. Galop will continue to work closely with inclusive Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and victims’ support organisations to navigate these changes in a way that is both lawful and supportive.
